Both China and the United States have agreed to promote measures such as mutual reduction of tariffs!

Addtime:2026-05-18 Click:2

The United States has announced relevant arrangements involving the reduction of tariffs and large-scale tariff concessions. This is essentially a policy correction within the framework of the tripartite system of checks and balances, and it is also a cash flow repair for the global supply chain system. After more than 150 billion US dollars of funds flow back into the importer system, the willingness of enterprises to replenish inventories increases, which in turn supports subsequent trade flows, order releases, and phased transportation demands. The "constructive strategic stable relationship between China and the United States" reached by both sides has brought clear expectations for Chinese and American trade practitioners. The future policy and business environment stability faced by US importers has improved, and the confidence to place new orders and replenish inventories is recovering. The statement "Let 2026 be a historic and landmark year for the development of Sino-US relations" also has significant attention and reflection value.

All information should be based on official sources and official releases. The national strategic determination and Chinese wisdom are trustworthy, and all decisions made by the country in complex international environments should be supported. China is continuing to advance its great rejuvenation, returning to its original name of "the Central State of the World". Next week, President Pu will visit, and subsequent signals in terms of global geopolitics, energy, trade, and supply chain will be worth continuous attention.

On May 14th, the heads of state of China and the United States held a meeting and announced that the Sino-US economic and trade teams reached a generally balanced and positive outcome. The Ministry of Commerce's answers to reporters regarding more details of the economic and trade consultation results stated: The heads of state of China and the United States held a meeting in Beijing and deeply discussed economic and trade issues, providing guidance for the development of the bilateral economic and trade relations and pointing out the direction. On May 13th, the economic and trade teams of China and the United States held economic and trade consultations in South Korea, making preparations for the economic and trade aspects of the meeting between the two heads of state. During the consultations, both sides were guided by the important consensus of the heads of state, adhering to the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation, and conducted candid, in-depth, and constructive exchanges and consultations on resolving the economic and trade issues of mutual concern and further expanding practical cooperation. Subsequently, both sides conducted intensive consultations on the specific contents of the outcomes and reached positive consensus. Currently, the preliminary achievements reached by both sides in the economic and trade field mainly include:

1. Both sides will continue to implement the previous consultation outcomes and reach a positive consensus on the relevant tariff arrangements.

2. Both sides agree to establish a trade council and an investment council to discuss their respective concerns in the trade and investment fields. Both sides will discuss issues such as product tariff reduction through the trade council, and generally agree to reduce tariffs on products of equal scale that are of concern to both sides.

3. Both sides will resolve or substantially promote the resolution of some non-tariff barriers and market access issues for agricultural products. The US side will actively promote the resolution of China's long-standing concerns such as automatic detention of dairy products and aquatic products, medium-sized bonsai exports to the US, and the recognition of no-epizootic areas in Shandong for avian influenza. China will also actively promote the resolution of the US side's concerns such as the registration of beef facilities and the supply of beef and poultry products from certain states to China.

4. Both sides agree to promote the expansion of two-way trade in certain fields including agricultural products through mutual tariff reduction arrangements.

5. Both sides have reached relevant arrangements on China's purchase of aircraft from the US and the US's guarantee of the supply of aircraft engines and components to China, and have agreed to continue to promote cooperation in this field. The positive outcomes of the economic and trade consultations between China and the United States indicate that both sides, adhering to the spirit of mutual respect, equality, and mutual benefit, through dialogue and cooperation, can find solutions to problems. Currently, both sides are still conducting consultations on the details of the outcomes. The economic and trade teams of both sides will follow the consensus determined by the two heads of state, quickly lock in the outcomes, and jointly implement them to inject more certainty and stability into the next round of China-US economic and trade cooperation and the world economy.
